 The Iron Horse Golf Course While the powder is still falling in late spring up on the slopes, an exceptional series of public access and resort golf options are available down in the valley. All venues are of championship caliber and greens fees are a fraction of what is found in more typical resort locales.
But don't sell the Flathead Valley short as some gimmicky destination. Golf Digest ranked the area among the top 50 international golf destinations back in 2000, ahead of better-known hot spots like Palm Beach, Bermuda and Puerto Rico, among others.

In Golfweek Magazine's recent state-by-state ranking of America's Best public access facilities, four of the five slots allotted to Montana were courses found in the Flathead Valley.
